Because globalization is causing people like me
Americans To have identity crises on a vastly large scale I cannot decide what to do Or how to go by doing it Or when exactly to start And I get text messages From people too lazy to talk And I reply Because I’m lazy too And having shielding my identity crisis With technological distraction That presents the false truth that we all are more connected While tearing us further and further apart And I’ll send this poem via email to a friend Who will read it and laugh at the irony presented within And who will text me to say Nice job You’re so talented And I will text back spelling thanks with an x on the end Because globalization is leveling the playing field And I don’t want to know about it I want to talk to my friends without talking to them And order my frozen coffee And buy my organic milk While wearing my slightly-comical protest t-shirt that no one gets And thinking about sponsoring a kid in Africa for thirty-five cents a day |
